Sprung Studios Ltd. (a.k.a. “we,” “us,” “our,” or “the organization”) is committed to protecting your personal information. The privacy policy below describes our plan for handling your personal information. 

In brief, your privacy is of utmost importance to us and you have the right to withdraw from contact with Sprung Studios at any time. By voluntarily contacting us through this website or by signing up for game testing, you agree to our terms and conditions, and consent to your personal information being managed and retained in accordance with our personal information privacy and retention policy. How we process your personal information, such as name, e-mail address, or phone number, shall always follow the guidelines set by the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and in accordance with the country-specific data protection regulations applicable to Sprung Studios. Via this personal information protection declaration, we would like to inform you – as a member of the general public – of the nature, scope, and purpose of the personal information we collect, use and process. Furthermore, this personal information privacy policy outlines your rights in accordance with PIPA.

1. Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide the organization’s statement of intent on how it provides a structured and compliant data and records management system. We define ‘records’ as all documents, regardless of the format, which facilitate business activities, and are thereafter retained to provide evidence of transactions and functions.

Such records may be created, received, or maintained in hard copy or in an electronic format with the overall definition of records management being a field of management responsible for the efficient and systematic control of the creation, receipt, maintenance, use, distribution, storage and disposal of records.

2. Applicability

This privacy policy is applicable to all staff within the organization (permanent, fixed term, and temporary staff, any third-party representatives or sub-contractors, agency workers, volunteers, interns, and agents engaged with the organization in British Columbia or otherwise), and pertains to the processing of personal information. It is mandatory for all staff to adhere to this privacy policy and any non-compliance could result in disciplinary action.

Sprung Studios is committed to protecting your personal information. It is the social responsibility of our organization to protect the personal information that you supply us directly or any personal information about you obtained through affiliated companies (if that is ever the case).

Sprung Studios complies with all applicable laws in the territories in which it operates. Proper management of personal data is one of the key principles of our business.

Personal information is defined by PIPA in Part 1 as any “information about an identifiable individual,” including the names, emails, and phone numbers of individuals that we collect for our legitimate business purposes.

Sprung Studios will comply with laws and regulations pertaining to personal information protection, and shall abide by the rule and systems that the organization puts in place toward meeting those aims. 

All Sprung Studios staff members shall abide by the Personal Information Protection Policy and will follow the most rigorous methods possible to protect personal information.

Information Handling

Sprung Studios will obtain personal information through appropriate methods and the purposes of use will be made available where relevant. Except where allowed or required by law, Sprung Studios will only use personal information according to the scope of the stated purposes of use. Except where allowed or required by law, Sprung Studios shall not provide personal information to a third party without obtaining prior consent from the individual. 

According to Section 6 of PIPA, “An individual is deemed to consent to the collection, use or disclosure of personal information by an organization for a purpose if (a) at the time the consent is deemed to be given, the purpose would be considered to be obvious to a reasonable person, and (b) the individual voluntarily provides the personal information to the organization for that purpose.” 

Therefore, by volunteering your personal information to us, you consent to the collection, storage, processing, and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with business functions and within the scope of this Personal Information Protection Policy. Relevant personal information includes: your full name, email address, and phone number(s). 

The personal information you provide us is collected, stored, and processed exclusively for internal use by Sprung Studios, and for our own purposes. The organization may transfer this personal information to one or more processors that uses this personal information for internal purposes only (eg. from one secure database to another). Unless required by law or with your consent, Sprung Studios shall not disclose your personal information to a third party or anyone outside of the organization. 

Providing your personal information to Sprung Studios allows us to offer you services or content that we could not offer you otherwise. It is your right to request to view your personal information, make amendments to your personal information, and have your personal information expunged from our data stores at any time. 

Your rights

In accordance with PIPA, below is a summary of the rights you have regarding your personal information. Please refer to the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) should you wish to know more specifically about your rights. 

  • Know why an organization collects, uses or discloses your personal information. 
  • Expect an organization to collect, use, or disclose your personal information reasonably and appropriately.
  • Know who in the organization is responsible for protecting your personal information. 
  • Expect an organization to protect your personal information by taking appropriate security measures. 
  • Expect the personal information an organization uses or discloses about you to be accurate and complete.
  • Request access to your personal information and ask for corrections or erasure. 
  • Complain about how an organization handles your personal information.

Should you feel at all uncomfortable with this policy, your only solution is to not sign up for game testing at Sprung Studios and to discontinue using the Sprung Studios website. 

Personal Information Protection System

Sprung Studio’s Data Protection Manager oversees the management and protection of personal information. For any information regarding your rights, your personal information, or anything pertaining to this Personal Information Protection Policy please contact them at Roles and responsibilities regarding personal information will be clearly defined for all employees. Employees will receive guidance on best procedures when handling personal information.

Protection of Personal Data

In order to ensure the security of personal data, Sprung Studios has in place and oversees security measures necessary for the prevention of leakage, loss, or damage of personal information. Should any handling of any personal information be outsourced to a third party, an agreement with that third party requiring the protection of personal data will be created. Sprung Studios will provide instructions and supervision to the third party regarding the correct handling of personal information.

Continuous Improvements to the Personal Data Protection Policy

Sprung Studios shall continuously review and look for improvements in its Personal Information Protection Policy to match with changes in business, social, legal, or IT environments.

Legal Compliance

Sprung Studios shall comply with all laws, government guidelines and other regulations governing the protection of personal information.


We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children below the age without requiring parental consent. If it is discovered that we have collected personal information from such children without their parent’s consent, then reasonable measures will be taken to erase the information promptly.

Revisions to this policy

Sprung Studios may revise this Policy in response to changes in applicable laws and regulations, or as necessary for best protecting personal information. Revisions to the Personal Information Protection Policy will become effective at the time of posting on Sprung Studio’s website unless otherwise noted.
