Vancouver, Canada – June 2020

UK and Canada-based Sprung Studios continues to grow and expand its unique UX/UI design services for the games industry and has now announced plans to increase its role at the centre of the international community of games development.

In 2017, the company opened a new studio in Vancouver, Canada, with a core team of experienced UX/UI creatives. The studio has grown rapidly in size from 11 to 45 people and the company has moved studios 3 times in 3 years. The new Vancouver studio is over 5000 sq ft in Downtown Vancouver with capacity to hire 30 more people across both studios.

To celebrate their 15th Anniversary and help strengthen their future plans, Sprung Studios has turned to two games industry veterans.

Graham McAllister will be joining the company as Research Director to create new playtesting facilities across both the Brighton and Vancouver studios.

Previously, Graham was the founder of Player Research, a UX Research studio based in Brighton UK, which was acquired by Keywords Studios in 2016.

He has been an academic in Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Sussex and has written over 50 articles on UX Research for websites including EDGE, GamesIndustry.biz and Gamasutra. He is also a regular speaker at conferences on Games User Research.

Graham said “I am thrilled to be joining the Sprung Studios team at this time. There is great need within the games industry for an external partner in UX/UI Design that can also offer UX Research capabilities. Sprung Studios will be uniquely placed to research, design, evaluate, and implement robust solutions right into the game.”

In addition to this, Sprung Studios is extending their development capabilities. The company has hired Andrew Eades as Technical Director, in order to provide bespoke development services to all of its existing clients.

Andrew Eades co-founded Relentless Software. The company was best known for developing 12 games in the BAFTA award winning and multi-million selling Buzz! franchise for consoles from 2005 to 2010.

Relentless also released a number of mobile titles including Quiz Climber Rivals, Murder Files: The Enigma Express and The Trace, which was Apple Editor’s Choice.

Andrew said “I’ve always been impressed by the way Sprung Studios work and their teams’ dedication to user-centric design. I’m very happy to bring my extensive games development expertise to both studios, integrating UX/UI more fully with development whilst increasing Sprung’s overall development capacity.”

CEO James Chaytor said: “We’re very excited to have these two highly respected veterans of the games industry join Sprung Studios. We are rising to meet the increasing demand for beautiful and usable UX/UI Design from development partners all over the world. With both of these services, we will be able to collaborate even further on some of the best games being made today.”

James will be at the very heart of the expansion of services. His passion for excellent design informs his vision for the company and its future.
